Tidy
The Tidy is a lighter maintenance groom that includes a warm bath, teeth brushing, anal gland expression (upon request), light dematting, brush out, ear cleaning, nail dremeling and a light trim to neaten face, feet, tail and sanitary areas.

Shedless / Deshedding
Give your dog a break from the heat and yourself a break from the shedding! Double-coated breeds love this special de-shedding conditioner bath, plus the extensive brush out to remove their loose undercoat. Also includes teeth brushing, anal gland expression (upon request), ear cleaning and nail dremeling.

How often should I get my dog professionally groomed?
Most breeds benefit from professional grooming every 6-8 weeks, though frequency depends on your dog’s coat type, lifestyle, and how much brushing you do at home. Dogs who swim, hike, or play outdoors may need more regular visits. Keeping your dog on a consistent grooming schedule helps maintain coat condition, manage nail length, and reduce shedding.
When should my puppy get their first professional groom?
Mud Puppies recommends scheduling your puppy’s first professional groom around 12-16 weeks of age, after they have received Bordetella, Rabies and at least one DHPP vaccination. Starting early helps puppies build positive associations with the grooming process – which makes future visits easier.
What if my dog is matted?
Bring them in and we will assess the situation. Mild matting can be worked out with dematting tools, charged at $1 per minute. Severe matting may require a shorter cut to start fresh. We always discuss options with you before proceeding, so there are no surprises.
How much does dog grooming cost at Mud Puppies?
Grooming prices vary by breed, coat condition, and service type. Full-service grooms start at $65 for small breeds like Chihuahuas and range upward for larger breeds. Every dog is different, so we provide personalized quotes.
Do you offer a self-serve dog wash?
Yes, Mud Puppies offers a self-serve dog wash at our Mopac location in Austin. Professional tubs, shampoo, dryers, and towels are provided. No appointment needed. A la carte grooming services like nail trims are also available when a groomer is on-site — call ahead to confirm availability if you are coming first thing in the morning or later in the day.
